Maintenance Mechanic

This position is responsible for maintenance of production machines and plant support systems. The Maintenance Associate is the front line “reactive” individual trouble-shooter and systems analyzer. Candidate must have the basic knowledge that allows a comprehensive and thorough understanding of process and electrical controls. Strong manufacturing background with demonstrated mechanical aptitude and process troubleshooting skills are desired. Ability to work independently. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and will work with closely with the production leaders.
JOB REQUIREMENTS OF A MAINTENANCE MECHANIC:
- Roll Away toolbox.
- Standard mechanical tools up to 1-1/4”
- Electrical hand tools and multi-meter CAT III
- Drill motor, calipers, metal shears, drill bit set.
- Minimum 2 years’ maintenance experience working in industrial electrical/mechanical field.
- Knowledge of AC motors/controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Working knowledge of DC motors and controls.
- Valid driver's license and Pactiv Forklift certification required; training provided.
- Good performance, safety and attendance records.
- Possible daily lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays as required.
- Willingness to work any shift.
- Must be knowledgeable in electrical system, prints/schematics.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills, decision making ability and mathematical knowledge.
- Performs quality work within reasonable time standards set forth by Leadership in verbal or written instructions.
- Maintain electrical control systems and mechanical equipment used in industrial manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot and repair Extruders, Thermoformer’s and Packagers
- Electrical heat/cool control systems
- AC and DC motors and their control systems
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- PLC’s control systems used throughout the plant.
- Preventative maintenance.
- General repairs to buildings and structures as required
- Proper operation of maintenance equipment (lathe, mill, welder, drill press, power tools).
- Training on thermoform tool changes and startup of production and packaging equipment.
- Effectively communicate information to other Team Members at shift change and to Maintenance Leadership using CMMS (Maintenance Connection), Work order documents, or logbook.
- Train to follow written procedures as they relate to work orders, PM schedules, and Process Safety Management (PSM) maintenance procedures.
- Must learn & follow all department and plant policies and procedures.
DESIRED SKILLS OF A MAINTENANCE MECHANIC:
- Complete knowledge of AC motors/controls, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- 2 years of completed technical school (AS Degree or equivalent).
- Certification in industrial mechanics through an accredited institution.
- Must possess strong leadership skills
